Empties!

I did it!
I don't know if any of you re-call a post I did a couple of months ago, where I set myself I little task to use up as many makeup and beauty items as possible.
I absolutely detest owning so many beauty products... It's not necessary, and no person needs to own 15 different mascaras. You may ask 'well why did you buy so much?' and the only answer I could give you, is because I was going through a phase where collecting makeup products was deemed 'cool'. Back in the days where I watched YouTube beauty gurus showcase their makeup collections, and I thought 'I want something like that'. The day has come where I find everything I own completely unnecessary- honestly I'd love to own a foundation and a couple of mascara's.

I made myself use up all of the makeup products I own, not including any crazy blue eyeshadows or anything that is not 'every-day' type makeup, and I must say I did damn good! That's not to say I'm stopping! There's something extremely satisfying when you finish a makeup product and toss the container in the bin. My makeup drawer looks so much cleaner and better now. I'm thinking of going through the stash and throwing away products that I haven't used in a while- event though I did that not too long ago. I may even go to the extent of throwing things that I don't think I'll ever use (however that would just be like throwing away money).

I will quickly run through the product's featured in the picture above, just in case any of you are interested:

  1. Britney Spears Curious perfume
  2. Kate Moss Lilabelle perfume
  3. Jennifer Lopez Live Luxe Perfume
  4. Rimmel Wake me up foundation
  5. MAC Mineralize skinfinish natural powder
  6. MAC lingering eyebrow pencil
  7. Maybelline eyebrow pencil
  8. Make Up For Ever face and body foundation
  9. Collection Collagen curl mascara
  10. Rimmel Day 2 night mascara
  11. Benefit Bad Gal lash mascara
  12. L'oreal Telescopic mascara
  13. L'oreal Volume million lashes mascara
I'm aware that this may not seem like a lot of products, but boy was this hard work!

Expect another 'empties' post in a couple of months, where I will (hopefully) have showcase even more product than I have in this post!

Have a great week :-)

Sunday Nails #1 Blue Moon

I want to start a new little series on my blog where I put up a quick post every Sunday with my choice of nail polish for the week. I love reading posts like these as it motivates and inspires me to do something with my nails.

I'm probably the most uncreative person when it comes to nails and nail art, so I'm hoping that this will crack me out of my nutshell, so I can get a little more art-sy with the claws of mine.

This week I'm sporting one of my all time favourite nail polishes- Blue Moon by Barry M. I have also layered a glitter coat which has a blue iridescent shimmers running through and works very well with the blue base coat.

I'm aware that pastel colours are technically not 'in' this season, but the weather was making me feel all Spring-like thus my choice of colour.

What are your picks for this season?

My 2013 Resolutions

At the start of every year, I set myself a few goals that I'd like to achieve by the end of the year. I must admit, a few years ago I didn't stick to them, just because I never really cared, but last year surprisingly it all went according to plan, and I was able to achieve most of my goals.
This year I decided to post them on my blog, just to make sure I DO stick to them, otherwise it'd be quite embarrassing if I didn't, whatever I post on here is for the world to see.

Spend time with your family- Since this is my final year living with my parents (before I head off to University) I want to spend some quality time with them. I do spend a considerable amount of time with them right now, but since there's so little time left, I want to make every minute count and involve them with every special moment.

Be more social- By the end of last year, I started to socialise a whole lot more than I ever did- and that's only because I found my nook of friends. I want 2013 to be as sociable and eventful as the last third of 2012 was. I can honestly say I've had one of the grandest times with my friends, and I don't want to change anything about it.

Get into my #1 choice University- I've sent off all of my Uni applications and received an offer to my #1 choice. I was over the moon, and still smile about it everyday but obviously I need to meet their offer. Since I'm predicted higher than what they ask for, I'm confidant I can do it, but I don't want to jinx it because I need to put in a lot of effort into my studies (which is another resolution of mine).

Work hard. Study Hard- There's nothing really more to say. I wish to keep up with my studies as well as work outside of study hours. There's nothing more rewarding than getting money as well as knowing that you're doing well with assignments and so on...

Keep healthy and active- One of my resolutions last year was to exercise and lose weight. It wasn't easy but I lost all the weight I wanted to. This year, I'd like to continue with that kind of lifestyle, and maybe even try to get abs (I'm laughing too). I don't know about the abs, but I'll try.

Blog more often- I want to keep blogging, but sometimes life just gets in the way, and throws more important things at you and you need to act quickly, therefore sometimes I drift away from the blogging world. This year I plan to work a little harder with my blog. I want to do more fashion posts, because I've gone away from the makeup route, and take better pictures (we all know how time consuming it is to take pictures). I enjoy blogging- I consider it a hobby and I don't want to anything about it!

So there we are! I think my goals are not too extreme, but not easy either. I plan to look back on this blog post throughout the year to make sure I stick to it and if not, then I'll have to re-evaluate my life :D

I hope your 2013 is fabulous!

What are some of your resolutions?!

2012 Favourites

So 2012 has been nothing special makeup/beauty wise. I started using up all of the makeup I've accumulated over the last few months-which has proven to be quite a challenge, however I'm pleased to say that it's going pretty well, and I'll be doing a post soon to show all the products I've managed to use up so far.
Since going through my collection over the past year, I've re-discovered some amazing products that I'd like to share with you! (You'll be happy to hear it's not that much!).

DKNY Pure Perfume- Has to be one of the sexiest perfume's I own. It's sweet with a hint of muskiness that just gives the perfume a name for itself- I've never come across a perfume that smells anything like it. It's appropriate to wear day and night which makes it very versatile and it's become one of my signature scents.

Michael Kors Watch- Can I say much more? It speaks for itself. It's a cult product. It's beautiful. It's eye-catching. I've dedicated a whole post to it which you can read here.

MAC Mineralize blush (Improvize)- A re-discovered treasure of mine. I purchased it quite some time ago, and was part of a collection which I can't remember. It's so unique and I don't own anything like it. I wouldn't say it acts like a blush, it's more of a highlighter and works wonderfully with my skin tone. I apply it to the apples of my cheeks and just below my cheekbones to give a healthy glow to my face.

Maybelline Master Shape Brow- I can't go out of the house without doing my eyebrows (extreme)... So when I used up my MAC eyebrow pencil, I needed a replacement fast but I couldn't bring myself to spend over £12 for a brow pencil that had minimal product. So I went on the hunt for the next best thing. I found that most brow pencils are extremely hard and difficult to work with, until I came across the master shape. The pencil is incredibly soft and blends in effortlessly! I'm so impressed with it, and can honestly say it's so much better than the MAC.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural- I think the picture says it all. I'm literally scraping the remains of this product. It has lasted me an age and has done my foundation wonders. It provides the most natural finish to any foundation, and looks great on it's own. Must have product.

L'oreal Telescopic mascara- This has to be my all time favourite mascara-not just 2012. It gives the most defined finish with lots of length. The plastic wand separates the lashed and distributes the product evenly. And what's best is that it doesn't cost a leg and an arm!

Sigma F60 Foundation brush- Silly me for not taking a better picture! It's the most basic, flat foundation brush which I used religiously throughout 2012. The sigma number has to be the best as it's just the right shape with the pointy tip to get into the nitty gritty places which most foundation brushes fail to do. It doesn't leave your foundation streaky (unless if you refuse to wash it) but gives a quick and even finish which is exactly what I look for in a foundation brush.

And there you have it! I know this is not as lengthy as my other favourites, but I carefully picked out my very favourite products for the year as I think they deserve a special feature for my blog!

What favourites did you have for 2012?!

Project 'Use Up' | Makeup Collection

I have no idea how this all started off- I probably had the most ridiculous idea to buy makeup, shove it into one draw, and use around 20% of it. Well this the result, and looking back, I must have been absolutely bonkers to think this was a good idea.
There is one good side of it though, and I'm sure everyone can agree with me and that is, you have everything you would ever need right at your fingertips. I have almost every shade of lipstick, eyeshadow, lipgloss and blush I would my heart desires... Rewind 3 years back and this was what I wanted, and I can safely say that I was completely ludicrous that to think this was acceptable.
A few months ago, it finally hit me, that I really do not need all of this makeup, so I started a little 'project' to  use up the products that I have in my drawer, and I can safely say, that it's going very well.
I started off with using up items that have little product left, so that way I'd be making more room AND I'd feel satisfied with myself for actually using something up. I have a small space in my room (shown above) where I put all the makeup I'd use on a regular day-to-day basis, which helps a great deal when you're trying to use up products. As soon as I'd use up a product, I'd go to my draw, and pick out a replacement and start using that up. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was not to go out and buy more makeup, and just use up what I have-whether I like it or not.
I found that this is the easiest way to cut down your collection- plus it's a great way to rediscover products you once loved but then threw to the back of your drawer.
My aim is for my makeup collection to fit into a standard makeup bag. I know this will take me a considerable amount of time, but I'm willing to do it, as I've already gotten this far.
I will be doing an 'empties post' in a few of weeks time to show how I'm getting on, in this little mission!

Anyone else motivated to use up their products?
